Technology and Environment Summit for Future Cities: CITYTECH and RECYCLE 2018

Starting with the motto “To live in a better country, in better cities,” the 12th International Municipality and Environment Fair (CITYTECH 2018) and RECYCLE 2018 brought sector stakeholders together in a massive organization at the Ankara Atatürk Cultural Center. Held under the umbrella of the 12th International Local Administrations Summit, this significant gathering shed light on the local government vision of Turkey during the European Union harmonization process. While ensuring the integration of administrative and financial structures with technology, the organization hosted the promotion of machinery, equipment, and gear necessary for the construction of livable cities.

Technology and Solution Partnership in Local Governments

CITYTECH 2018 united technology-producing companies and local administrators utilizing this technology in urban management on a common platform. During the fair, solution proposals for the administrative and financial bottlenecks experienced by local governments were discussed. Participating companies attracted attention with innovative approaches and projects on urbanism as well as the state-of-the-art equipment they presented. This platform transformed into an interactive ground where problems were tabled, and concrete solution strategies were developed, rather than just being a product exhibition area.

Industry of the Future: Recycling and Environmental Technologies

RECYCLE 2018, another critical pillar of the summit, centered on the protection of ecological balance and sustainability awareness. Environmental technologies and the recycling industry, defined as the “industry of the next century,” were presented in detail to the public and local administrators through this fair. Environmental protection and the use of recycled products, expected to be the most important agenda items for heavy industry and local administrations in the coming years, formed the focal point of the fair. Tools and equipment developed for environmental health drew great interest from visitors.

Global Cooperation and Massive Management Network

Realized with intense participation from both domestic and international circles, the 12th International Local Administrations Summit brought together a vast network representing 81 provincial special administrations, over 3,000 municipalities, and thousands of local government units. This strategic meeting provided significant gains in terms of joint project development, information and technology transfer, and experience sharing. Participants had the opportunity to directly access technological solutions for operational problems encountered in the service sector through the opportunities offered by the CITYTECH and RECYCLE fairs.
