Sustainable Cities and Local Governance Vision: CITYTECH 2017

Organized to increase the service quality of local governments and to spread the modern urbanization concept throughout Turkey, the CITYTECH 11th International Municipality and Municipality Equipment Fair brought sector professionals together in Ankara. Opening its doors at the Anfa Altınpark Expo Center with the motto “To live in a better country, in better cities,” the organization was held within the scope of the 11th International Local Administrations Summit. Focusing on the local government needs of Turkey during the European Union harmonization process, the event brought together technology producers and decision-makers on a strategic platform in line with the ideal of livable cities.

Urban Technologies and Solution Platform

CITYTECH 2017, constituting one of the most significant pillars of the fair, served as an arena where the newest versions of machinery, equipment, and gear needed by municipalities were exhibited. Going beyond being merely a product display area, the organization acted as a bridge between local government officials experiencing administrative and financial bottlenecks and private sector representatives producing solutions. In the fair, where new approaches and projects on urbanism were presented to the attendees, the technology required to make the city livable successfully met with its buyers.

Environmental Awareness and the Future of Recycling

Held simultaneously with the organization, RECYCLE 2017 (11th International Environment and Recycling Technologies Fair) centered on the necessity of preserving the ecological balance. The environmental technologies and recycled products industry, defined as the industry of the coming century, appeared before the public through this fair. Issues such as environmental protection and the dissemination of recycling, which are particularly on the agenda of heavy industry and local administrations, were placed on a concrete ground with the new generation tools and equipment exhibited.

Local Administrations Summit and Cooperation Network

The 11th International Local Administrations Summit, forming the intellectual and administrative depth of the event, hosted numerous local government units from both domestic and international arenas. In this massive gathering where 81 provincial special administrations, 3226 municipalities, and thousands of local government unions across the country were represented, significant steps were taken in areas such as joint project development, technology exchange, and cultural sharing. The summit, where problems experienced in the equipment and service sector were discussed, concluded as a productive platform where local governments could find direct solutions to their needs through CITYTECH and RECYCLE fairs.
