The concepts of “speed” and “time management,” which have become the most critical needs of the globalizing world, gained a sectoral identity with a giant organization held in Ankara. The 1st Aviation Fair, FLYTECH 2016, held at Ankara Altınpark Expo Center between October 20 – 23, 2016, was recorded as the first comprehensive event showcasing Turkey’s rise in the field of aviation. The aviation sector, which has turned into a vital industry parallel to the increase in international commercial and sociocultural relations, found the opportunity to announce its product groups and technological capabilities to the world from the capital with this fair.
Mirror of the Sector Growing with Numbers
The biggest motivation source for organizing the fair was the striking growth statistics announced by the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMİ). According to the 2015 year-end data, passenger traffic exceeding 181 million, successful flights reaching 1.8 million, and cargo traffic (cargo+mail+luggage) of 3 million tons revealed the massive potential of the sector. FLYTECH 2016 came to life as a reflection of this growth trend and the economic projections in the Medium Term Program (OVP). The organization created a strategic ground to demonstrate the performance of Turkish air transport at global standards.
Technology and Global Interaction
During the four-day event, sub-components of the aviation industry and new generation flight technologies were presented to visitors. Professionals coming from all over the country and different points of the world had the chance to examine the latest innovations in the sector on-site. Beyond being just an area where aircraft and equipment were exhibited, FLYTECH 2016 concluded as a vision meeting where logistics solutions and technological developments shaping the future of the sector were discussed, opening doors to international collaborations.
