Ankara hosted one of the most comprehensive organizations in the field of urbanism and environmental technologies in recent years. Ankara Beytepe Congress Center brought together industry professionals, local administrators, and technology giants under the roof of the 13th International Urbanism and Environment Fair, CITYTECH 2019. The organization was recorded not only for the products exhibited but also as an important platform where the vision of future smart cities was discussed. Throughout the fair, attendees had the opportunity to examine the necessities of modern urban life and sustainable environmental policies on-site.
Smart City Systems and Technological Infrastructure
One of the most striking sections of the fair was the areas where solutions for digitizing city administrations were exhibited. A wide range of products, from smart transportation systems to security software, was presented to visitors. In particular, automation systems, kiosks, and computer technologies aimed at increasing efficiency in municipal services attracted intense interest from local government representatives.
In addition, construction machinery, environmental cleaning vehicles, and fire rescue equipment, which play a critical role in the physical construction of cities, were showcased at the fair. Water meters, insulation products, and prefabricated building examples developed for infrastructure works constituted the building blocks of modern urbanism.
Environmental Awareness and Urban Aesthetics
CITYTECH 2019 also highlighted the concept of living cities, which consist not only of concrete and technology. Under the title of International Environment and Recycling Technologies; solid waste management, recycling facilities, and treatment systems were handled in detail. Innovative technologies exhibited for the recovery of glass, metal, paper, plastic, and electronic waste served as an important information sharing point for environmental engineers and sector representatives.
In terms of aesthetics, urban furniture, park-garden arrangements, and children’s playgrounds added color to the fair. Details that give identity to the city, such as urban lighting units and ornamental pools, were examined by landscape architects and municipal officials.
Strong Collaborations with the Local Administrations Summit
Another important pillar of the organization was the International Local Administrations Summit, held simultaneously. High-level representatives of ministries, governorships, and municipalities came together with non-governmental organizations and academics to seek solutions to urban problems. This summit, which took place with the participation of unions and private sector representatives, enabled the foundations of public and private sector collaborations to be laid. CITYTECH 2019 concluded as a memorable event in the urbanism sector with its wide product profile and participant diversity.
